Hatboro Federal Wins PACT Community Service Award
Hatboro, PA—Hatboro Federal Savings President and CEO Joseph J. Tryon, Jr., is pleased to announce that the bank has been awarded the prestigious 2011 Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB) Regional Community Service Award. The announcement will be made at the PACB Annual Convention in Lake Tahoe, Nevada this week. Hatboro Federal garnered the PACB award based on the bank's financial support for an "Innovative Learning Grant" given to Hatboro-Horsham High School's Senior Robotics Team through the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation.
"We are truly grateful to PACB for giving us this recognition and award. To keep our communities healthy and growing, we have always believed that the business community should support activities that help provide the finest education possible," says Tryon. "The robotics program is an excellent vehicle to enhance learning, particularly in the fields of math and science."
Created in 2001, Hatboro-Horsham High School's Senior Robotics Team is a "For Inspiration and Recognition in Science Team" (FIRST), and ranked in the top 12 teams worldwide in 2009. During the 2010-11 school year, the team built a 120-pound robot which they named "RoadRunner" for its operational speed. Powered by a 12-volt battery, the robot is able to select, lift, and hang objects on a nearby wall.
The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers was established in 1992 when the Community Bankers of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Association of Savings Institutions consolidated their resources and membership.
Today, the PACB is an organization representing the interests of more than 250 community banks across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PACB member institutions are committed to meeting the financial needs of their respective "hometowns" and citizens. PACB is located in Harrisburg, PA.
Hatboro Federal Savings, one of Bucks and Montgomery Counties' leading community banks, was chartered by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in February 1941, and has current assets in excess of $530 million. Headquartered at 221 S. York Road, Hatboro Federal Savings also has branch offices in Warrington, Warminster and Jamison, offering financial products and services to individuals and families.
